A new club for 7 – 11 year olds on a Thursday evening 6:30 to 8:00 pm. A safe and fun place to chill out with friends, play pool or table football, wrestle Hulk Hogan on the playstation, play ‘old favourite’ games like ‘Jenga’ and ‘Uno’ or try some of the games that parents and grandparents grew up with like marbles, coin toss and dominoes. At the end of every evening we all do an activity together, sometimes a game like Pictionary sometimes a discussion or quiz. Cost is 50p per week and includes a drink of juice. Eventually Chillzone will have it’s own webpage designed by the kids, but for now click on the links below to enjoy some penguin-related gaming fun!

If you think that a mouse is a small furry rodent and question why it would need a mat; if you think that a ‘hard drive’ is a trip in the car over Snake Pass in Derbyshire in winter, and that a ‘floppy disc’ needs immediate attention by a chiropractor, then chances are you would benefit from Heather’s patient instruction in the noble science of computing. We run three classes – complete beginner, intermediate, and digital imaging. The classes are a maximum of 5 people which means plenty of personal tuition. Cost is £1.50 per session lasting 2 hours.

Thursday morning is ‘creative morning’ at the Springs from 10:00 to 12:00 pm If you fancy yourself as the next Salvador Dali or want to set up a business to rival Hallmark Cards, then why not come along and try your hand. The art class has no tutor and is simply space to explore whatever you feel like drawing or painting. The card-making class is tutor led, and we have a wealth of materials to create your masterpiece for a loved one! Both activities take place in the same room, and it’s a very relaxed, friendly and peaceful environment. Sessions cost £1.50 for 2 hours.

Well, C S Lewis and Barbara Cartland had to start somewhere! (no, it wasn’t here!). The Creative Writing group is led by a tutor supplied by the local education authority and meets on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00 pm. A range of different styles are explored, as well as how to craft a good story or poem, and several members of the group have had work published. Sessions cost £1.50 for the 2 hours.

For those who haven’t yet graduated to the dizzy heights of nursery! Open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 am, ‘Little Springs’ is a busy, fun-filled time for pre-schoolers. Lots of great toys and equipment to play with in a safe environment, including a purpose-built outdoor playground. Craft activities, sing-alongs, juice and biscuits, and a summer outing each year to Sundown Adventureland! Oh to be 3 years old again! A great place for Mums, Dads, Grandparents and carers to meet other folks and enjoy a coffee and cake and some adult conversation while the kids play happily! And all this for only £1.00 per child per session. Phone Jenny on the main number for more details.

The Lunch Club meets on the first Monday of each month at 'The Springs'. It is an informal time of meeting with others to relax, make new friends, enjoy good food and take part in activities and outings to places like Beamish, Durham, Southport, Bridlington, and opportunity for a short break each spring.
